Rockingham is Tourism Ready

Rockingham is a tourism hotspot with so much to offer.

We attract a significant number of visitors, both domestic and international, to experience our nature, wildlife and aqua-packed adventure. There are exciting development opportunities like the Rockingham marina, eco-tourism at Cape Peron Reserve, international brand hotels, the Safety Bay and Shoalwater Foreshore Revitalisation Master Plan, and much more.

Tourist Destination Strategy

The City of Rockingham Council adopted the Tourist Destination Strategy (2024-2029) at its ordinary meeting on Tuesday 27 August 2024.

The Tourist Destination Strategy sets out our strategic priorities and direction for marketing Rockingham to tourists. The key objectives aim to support and develop business and product growth within Rockingham that enhances the overall tourism offering, improves visitor experiences and continues to build Rockingham’s reputation as a must-visit coastal destination in Western Australia.

The new strategy identifies and prioritises four key strategic elements to actively pursuing tourism:

  1. Destination and tourism product development
  2. Destination marketing
  3. Visitor servicing
  4. Event attraction and activation

Rediscover Rockingham – the City’s destination brand

Our tourism marketing brand aims to encourage everyone – locals and visitors alike – to Rediscover Rockingham.  The brand was a key action of the City’s Tourist Destination Strategy 2019 - 2024. It featured newly developed elements including a logo designed specifically for destination marketing, separate to our corporate logo and branding.

Rockingham businesses are encouraged to adopt the Rediscover Rockingham brand within their own marketing and promotion. The easiest way to do this is by tagging photos and videos on social media with #RediscoverRockingham. There are also several opportunities within the year to get involved with larger campaigns.
Please contact us at tourism@rockingham.wa.gov.au to register your interest.
