The City is delighted to welcome Tourism Council WA to Rockingham to deliver a day of training specifically tailored to the tourism industry. Tourism and hospitality business owners have the chance to learn more about the fundamentals of tourism and customer service during two back-to-back workshops on 3 August.
An opportunity for the local tourism industry to get together for networking and an industry update will follow the workshops.

Tourist Destination Strategy
The City of Rockingham Council adopted the Tourist Destination Strategy (2019-2024) at its ordinary meeting on Tuesday 28 May 2019.
The Tourist Destination Strategy sets out our strategic priorities and direction for marketing Rockingham to tourists. The key objective of the strategy is to effectively and measurably promote the Rockingham region as a premium coastal destination in Western Australia.
The new strategy identifies and prioritises five key strategic elements to actively pursuing tourism:
- Destination marketing (targeting eco and adventure tourism)
- Visitor servicing (face-to-face and digital)
- Coastal development and activation
- Events activation (entertainment destination)
- Mid-tier MICE attraction (meetings, incentives, conferences and events)
Rediscover Rockingham – the City’s destination brand
Our stylish new tourism marketing brand encourages everyone – locals and visitors alike – to Rediscover Rockingham. The brand is a key action of the City’s Tourism Destination Strategy. It features newly developed elements including a logo designed specifically for destination marketing, separate to our corporate logo and branding.
The Rediscover Rockingham brand is being incorporated into all of our destination marketing materials including print and billboard advertising. It has also been featured as part of eight stories within the Destination WA TV series on Channel 9 and radio advertising on Nova 93.7. A new destination marketing website featuring the branding is currently being developed in partnership with Tourism Rockingham.
Rockingham businesses are encouraged to adopt the Rediscover Rockingham brand within their own marketing and promotion. The easiest way to do this is by tagging photos and videos on social media with #rediscoverrockingham. There are also several opportunities within the year to get involved with larger campaigns.
