Planning accessible and inclusive events

Two people having ride in a bicycle trishaw at an event at the Rockingham foreshore.Public events should be planned in a way that ensures they are accessible to all members of the community.

Event planners may consider the different barriers which can prevent people with disability from attending and participating in their event, and to support this, the Disability Services Commission has developed a useful guide called Creating Accessible Events.

The checklist in the guide has been designed to assist people and organisations who are planning events and functions to help them ensure they are accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
