COVID-19 Frequently asked questions

  • How do you manage social distancing?

We have implemented the recommended guidelines and directives from the State and Federal Governments and the WA Department of Health, with signage, floor markings, barricades, sneeze screens, participant limits and revised programs and service delivery.  When you arrive at Aqua Jetty, things will be a little different for a while.  You will be welcomed at the main entrance by a member of our friendly team who will help manage and direct you to where you need and want to go.  Thank you in advance for your patience, support and cooperation while we implement these new protocols.

Have you changed your opening hours?

From Monday 29 June we resumed our normal opening hours:

    • Monday to Wednesday: 5.30am - 9pm
    • Thursday: 5.30am - 8.30pm
    • Friday: 5.30am - 7.30pm
    • Weekends and public holidays: 7am - 7pm
What areas will remain closed indefinitely?

Pending further easing of restrictions, some of our programs and services may reopen, however our current closures include:

    • programs (including netball, pilates, TeenFit and AJConnect)
    • merchandise store.
How do you monitor attendance in the centre?

Members scan their membership tags as normal, and a daily attendance log is saved from our Facility Management System.

How many people can be in the centre at any one point in time?

Patron restrictions are based on the current State Government advice.

    • Group fitness has a maximum of 35 per class
    • The cycle room has a maximum of 13 per class.
Is the general public able to access the centre or is it members only?

Access to Aqua Jetty is available to members and casual users.

Will you scan people’s temperature before entry?

No, we will not be conducting temperature testing for patrons at Aqua Jetty.

Do people need to wear a mask in the centre?

No, it is not compulsory to wear a mask in the centre. Some patrons and staff may choose to, however it is not a requirement of entry.

What do I do if I think someone training near me is unwell?

Please do not take it upon yourself to approach or question your fellow patrons in this instance.  If you feel the need to remove yourself and/or report this to a member of staff, please do what is right for you, however we cannot target or discriminate against other members or patrons.

Do you have thermometers to test members?

We will not be testing members as this would be acting outside of our scope of practice.

  • When will my membership reactivate?

Your membership automatically reactivated on Wednesday 1 July 2020.

Please contact our membership team on 9591 0888 to ensure that we have the correct contact details for you.

What if I don’t want to return to Aqua Jetty?

You may choose to leave your membership on suspension.  If you do wish to cancel, please email aquajetty@rockingham.wa.gov.au as phone cancellations will not be accepted.

Will I be charged a cancellation fee if I wish to leave?

Until the date that memberships will be reactivated in full, you may choose to request a membership cancellation with no additional notice or payments due.

However, once the facility has reopened and your membership payments have been reactivated, your usual cancellation terms and conditions will apply (i.e. 14 days' notice, balancing of any previously owed fees, etc.).

I have lost my job, do you have any assistance for hardship?

Membership suspensions can be put in place free of charge for an additional 12 weeks after membership payments have been reactivated.  You will be required to request this in writing to aquajetty@rockingham.wa.gov.au.  Alternatively, please discuss your account and options with one of our friendly membership officers.

I’m not ready to come back yet, how long can I suspend my membership for?

You may suspend your membership free of charge until 30 September 2020.  You will be required to request this in writing to aquajetty@rockingham.wa.gov.au.  Due to the unprecedented nature of COVID-19, this initiative may be reviewed.

Will you discount all access memberships while the pools are not available?

There will be no discounts applied to any memberships at Aqua Jetty.  Membership fees will remain suspended until we can reasonably and fairly offer the facilities and programs that your membership entitles you access to.

When the time comes that we are open in a partial or restricted capacity, we will be accepting ‘pay per use’ options only, via contactless payment.

If I am vulnerable to COVID-19, will you allow me a medical suspension?

You may suspend your membership free of charge until 30 September 2020.  You will be required to request this in writing to aquajetty@rockingham.wa.gov.au. If you wish to suspend your membership after this date, you may do so free of charge when your request is accompanied with a medical certificate.

  • What new cleaning protocols have you put in place?

In consultation with industry and governing bodies, the City of Rockingham’s Occupational Safety and Health, and Business Continuity teams, we have employed the services of additional staff, public cleaning equipment and stations, as well as full-time professional cleaning teams to ensure that we are meeting and exceeding all standards for cleaning protocols under the COVID-19 guidelines.

All Aqua Jetty staff have also undertaken COVID-19 Infection Control training.

How will you keep the shared group fitness equipment sanitised?

Group fitness equipment will be disinfected between each use/class. Participants are also encouraged to wipe down and disinfect their equipment before and after use, and bring their own equipment where appropriate and applicable (i.e. yoga mats, etc.).

How often are doors and surfaces wiped down?

Door and surface cleaning is undertaken on a regular and continual rotation throughout the day, both in adhoc and scheduled capacities to ensure that all cleaning standards and protocols are met. Where possible, doors are operated by a single member of staff to avoid cross contamination by multiple people.

How do you make sure the equipment is kept clean?

Equipment cleaning is undertaken on a continual rotation throughout the day, both in adhoc and scheduled capacities to ensure that all cleaning standards and protocols are met.

Patrons are also required to wipe down and disinfect their equipment before and after use with the cleaning equipment supplied.

How do you manage shared equipment in boot camp-style classes?

Boot camp classes are undertaken in a no/limited equipment capacity for the time being, and any equipment used is only used by individual participants for the duration of the session (i.e. no shared equipment).

All equipment is then cleaned and disinfected at the end of the session. Participants are encouraged to do the same at the beginning and end of each class.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment where appropriate and applicable (i.e. yoga mats, etc.).

How frequently are sinks, taps, toilet doors and flushers sanitised?

Sanitation of sinks, taps, toilet doors and flushers is undertaken on a regular and continual rotation throughout the day, both in adhoc and scheduled capacities to ensure that all cleaning standards and protocols are met.

Are you increasing the amount of hand sanitiser stations and wipe dispensers?

    Yes, absolutely.

How will you keep the showers sanitised between uses?

As we reopen these facilities, shower sanitisation will be undertaken on a regular and continual rotation throughout the day, both in adhoc and scheduled capacities to ensure that all cleaning standards and protocols are met.
