The City is pleased to advise that our first cohort of Youth Employment Program Trainees joined the organisation on the 28 November 2022. We welcomed two new young people to join our Asset Services and Technical Services teams in the office and four more young people to our Civil Construction and Parks Services teams at the Depot. It is anticipated that four more trainees will join us in January 2023.
This is a newly developed program by the City, offering a three-year paid traineeship for young people between the ages of 16-24 years. This investment in our community will provide the participants with access to paid employment and training opportunities (trade and tertiary) while building on the job experience in their chosen area.
The traineeships will be offered in horticulture, arboriculture, trades, business administration and engineering, and will provide expert mentoring and guidance with on-the-job support from City supervisors and not-for-profit charity Nudge, who are traineeship and apprenticeship specialists.
Nudge has promoted the program through visits with local schools and at career exhibitions in Rockingham in collaboration with the City.
For more information about the program or eligibility, please contact Nudge on 9323 6378 or via email enquiries@nudge.ngo.
