Major annual events

Find out all you need to know about our free major annual events - there's lots to see and do in Rockingham, where the coast comes to life. Our major annual events include the Christmas Festival, and our New Year’s Eve and Australia Day celebrations. All our major annual events are part of our Summer Series of free entry, family-friendly, smoke and alcohol-free events. Christmas Festival Christmas stilt walkers

  • Date: Saturday 10 December 2022
  • Time: 5pm-8.30pm
  • Location: Churchill Park, Rockingham Foreshore

Our Christmas Festival is back and ready to help get you in the holiday spirit.

The event will feature:

  • music and dance entertainment over two stages (one at The Lookout with an Auslan interpreter and one in Churchill Park - both with accessible viewing areas)
  • Christmas lights at 8pm
  • visit from Santa
  • roaming entertainment
  • a sensory-friendly chill out zone space with sensory activities and noise cancelling headphones
  • free children's craft activities, including Christmas cookie decorating, and wooden baubles and toys to decorate and take home
  • market stalls
  • City of Rockingham Libraries stall and activities
  • snow pit and snow machine
  • food vans.

If coming by car, see our helpful parking map. Limited additional parking will be available at the Village Green from 4.30pm until full. Transperth bus route 555 servicesopens in a new window will be running every 15 minutes between 4pm-9pm.

Sensory Santa Santa waving

This Christmas everyone gets their time to meet Santa. Neurodiverse families and individuals are offered the chance to meet Santa in a relaxed and sensory-friendly environment.

  • Time: 9am-4pm
  • Location: Upstairs at the Rockingham Library, Dixon Road, Rockingham

Santa will be mindful of your needs, and with your own 10 minute timeslot, you will have plenty of time with minimal waiting.

Sensory Santa

New Year's Eve

  • Date: Saturday 31 December 2022
  • Time: 5pm-12am
  • Location: Churchill Park, Rockingham Foreshore

We’re excited to have Eskimo Joe headlining and counting down to the midnight fireworks. Eskimo Joe will be supported by PUMP, The VHS Pirates, AbbaFab, and local acts. There will also be fireworks at 9pm, a glitter bar, amusement rides, a games trailer, and food vans.

Australia Day 

  • Date: Thursday 26 January 2023
  • Time: 5pm-8.30pm
  • Location: Churchill Park, Rockingham Foreshore

There will be fireworks at 8.30pm, food vans, free children’s activities, and more.

Symphony on the Green 

  • Date: Saturday 18 February 2023
  • Time: 5.30pm-9pm
  • Location: Village Green, Flinders Lane, Rockingham

Join WASO and a spectacular line up at the ever-popular Symphony on the Green. Enjoy a magical evening for the whole family, filled with all your classical and film favourites plus more musical surprises, performed by WASO and superstar soloists. Pre-show stage performances from 5.30pm, with the full orchestra on stage from 7pm.

Multicultural Festival

  • Date: Friday 17 March 2023
  • Time: 5.30pm-9pm
  • Location: Village Green, Flinders Lane, Rockingham

We're looking forward to bringing you this event after it was cancelled in 2022. This family-friendly event will feature stage performances, over 30 food vans, market stalls, roving entertainment, activities for children and youth, and much more.

Performance in the Park - Cinderella Glass slipper

  • Date: Saturday 25 March 2023
  • Time: 5.30pm-8pm
  • Location: Village Green, Flinders Lane, Rockingham

You’re all invited to the ball! Join Cinderella, the Prince, and the Fairy Godmother for a magical theatre performance of Cinderella. There will be pre-show stage entertainment from 5.30pm, before Cinderella takes the stage at 6.30pm. Following the performance, there will be photo opportunities with your favourite characters. We're looking forward to bringing you this event after it was cancelled in 2022.
