Get Active Together

Volleyball on the foreshore park.

There are many benefits to having an active community and we are proud to have such a diverse range of sporting clubs and activities in the City of Rockingham. We provide a range of resources to support you in the day-to-day operations of your club. Local clubs are also invited to be part of our Get Active Together campaign where you can benefit from our support to promote your club in our community and attract new members. Holding a Club Promotion Day is a great way to reach out to potential members. Find out how we can support your club's event below.

You may be able to access funding to support your event. Book a meeting to discuss your circumstances with the City’s Grants Officer on 9528 0333 or customer@rockingham.wa.gov.au. Visit Community Grants Program for more information.

Plan an accessible and inclusive event

Through our Disability Access and Inclusion Plan, we encourage the planning of all community events to ensure access and inclusion for all attendees. You can find out how to do this at planning accessible and inclusive events.

Gain event approvals and permits

The need for permits and approvals will depend on where and when you are holding your event, and the conditions of your club’s lease or licence. To discuss your event, contact the City’s Events team at customer@rockingham.wa.gov.au or visit event approvals and permits.

Provide a Community Club Connector

To combat loneliness in the City of Rockingham we are piloting a Club Connector program.

Participating clubs can nominate one or more members who are willing to act as the ‘club connector’ and their role is to be the first point of contact for people wanting to join their club, but who may need an extra level of support – like a buddy system.

Each ‘club connector’ will need to provide us with the following information: 

  • a photo
  • contact details
  • availability (this can be when they regularly meet at the club)
  • something about them – whatever they would like to share that might make people more comfortable reaching out.

To learn more email customer@rockingham.wa.gov.au.
