About Travel Subsidy Grants

Travel Subsidy Grants are available to individuals and teams who are authorised by their association’s governing body to participate in accredited interstate and international competitions travelling outside of Western Australia (interstate and international travels).

*Team applications: if six or more individual applications are received by the City with the applicants representing the same club, school, organisation or association, participating in or at the same organised competition (date and/or location), irrespective of division or category, the applications will be classed as a team application.

Applications must be received and date stamped by the City at least four weeks prior to the competition.

Please note: applications will be assessed by City Officers in accordance with relevant City policies, guidelines and processes. The City reserves the right to decline applications, or approve for partial funding. Any decisions made by the City are final.

Application Process

Please follow each step below for further information, and before submitting an application.

Step 1. Read the City’s Community Grants Program Guidelines

Please take a moment to review the requirements and eligibility criteria outlined in the application form before proceeding with your application. 

Only proceed to the next step of your application if you are confident that you meet all criteria.

Step 2. Complete the Travel Subsidy Grant Application

Complete the Travel Subsidy application form in full and ensure all questions have been answered correctly. 

Ensure that you have also collated all supporting documentation.

Step 3. Submit the Application

Once you have completed the application form, please submit your application with all required documents attached, including: 

  1. Selection / supporting letter – this must be from an approved governing body (e.g. copy of selection letter on letterhead) stating the applicant’s name and confirmation of travel and representation level (e.g. competition details with dates, locations etc.).
  2. Applicant’s proof of City of Rockingham residency (e.g. driver’s licence, rates / utility notice etc.). For minors, this could be the parent / guardian’s details. 

Note: to avoid delay of your application being assessed, please ensure that all questions have been completed in full, and that all required support documents have been submitted at the time of application. Applications will only be assessed once the application has been received in full.

Step 4. Outcome

Once your application has been assessed, you will receive notification of the outcome of the City’s decision within four weeks of when your application has been received in full (i.e. all application questions answered and all supporting documentation received). 

A formal letter advising you of the outcome of the City’s decision will be sent to you by email or post. 

Step 5. Payment

Successful applicants will receive payment electronically directly into their nominated bank account. Please ensure the bank details provided are correct.

The City will not be held responsible for any delays or errors in payment due to factors out of the City’s control (including but not limited to those resulting from banking industry systems).

Step 6. After You Have Attended the Competition - Acquittals

We are interested in hearing how your competition went. Please submit the following to the City within four weeks of competing:

  1. Competition documentation/proof of attendance.
  2. Receipt of costings.
  3. Photo evidence (e.g. photo taken at the program or a screenshot of any social media posts associated with the competition you attended).
