Tertiary Scholarship Scheme

Tertiary Scholarships are assessed within two rounds each year:

  • Round one applications are open Friday 2 February 2024, closing 4.30pm on Friday 1 March 2024.
  • Round two applications are open Friday 7 June 2024, closing 4.30pm on Friday 5 July 2024.

Scholarship categories

The Tertiary Scholarship Scheme (TSS) aims to increase local Rockingham residents’ capacity to complete tertiary education. There are two scholarships offered through the Tertiary Scholarship Scheme:

  1. Undergraduate University Scholarships: Up to $10,000 per scholarship equating to $2,500 per year ($1,250 per semester) for up to four years or upon completion of degree. 
  2. TAFE/VET Diploma Scholarships: Up to $4,000 per scholarship equating to $2,000 per year ($1,000 per semester) for up to two years or upon completion of diploma.

Applicant eligibility criteria:

Successful applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • City of Rockingham resident for a minimum of three years at the time of the application
  • aged 17 and over
  • an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • can demonstrate financial hardship (see definition in application package and guidelines).
  • must provide a letter of offer or evidence of current enrolment at a nationally recognised university or TAFE/VET provider.
  • have a minimum of one full semester (six months) of study remaining from the TSS application closing date
  • must be completing an undergraduate university degree or TAFE diploma for the first time.

  1. Read the Tertiary Scholarship Scheme Guidelines below and ensure you understand the requirements and meet all eligibility and assessment criteria.
  2. Download the Tertiary Scholarship Scheme Application Package below, complete and ensure you have the relevant documentation.
  3. Complete the application form with the required supporting documentation and return it to the City  at customer@rockingham.wa.gov.au by the closing date. Applications received after Friday 1 March 2024 4:30pm will not be considered.
