About the Community Grants Program

We operate a Community Grants Program to consider all requests for funding, donations, sponsorships and grants.

We are committed to supporting incorporated not-for-profit organisations and associations, including those limited by guarantee (e.g. community groups and clubs), to assist with the delivery of programs, projects and events that benefit the Rockingham community.

Council Policy objective:

  • To provide financial assistance to community groups and individuals that will build capacity within the community, stimulate volunteering and youth development, and deliver sustainable, accessible and demonstrated social, environmental and economic benefits.

The Community Grants Program consists of the following grant categories:

Minor Grants - travel subsidy, youth encouragement and generalMajor Grants - major and event sponsorshipCity Property GrantsCommunity Infrastructure Grants

Submission dates

Applications for the following grants can be submitted at any time, but are only assessed after the closing dates. The table below shows the closing dates for the 2024/2025 grant rounds.

  • Major Grants – applications between $3,001 and $15,000
  • Major Event Sponsorship – applications up to $20,000
  • Infrastructure Planning Grants – applications up to $20,000
  • Infrastructure Capital Grants – applications up to $50,000

State Government funding available

Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF)

The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSCI) offers grants to help deliver facilities that increase participation in physical activity.

Applicants must be either a local government or a not-for-profit sport, recreation or community organisation incorporated under the WA Associations Incorporation Act 1987opens in a new window and have an Australian Business Number (ABN). Clubs must demonstrate equitable access to the public on a short term and casual basis.

The land on which the facility is to be developed must be one of the following:

  • Crown reserve
  • Land owned by a public authority
  • Municipal property
  • Land held for public purposes by trustees under a valid lease, title or trust deed that adequately protects the interests of the public.

Small grants Forward Planning grants

Club Night Lights Program

The purpose of the program is to provide financial assistance to community groups and local governments to develop sports floodlighting infrastructure. The program aims to maintain or increase participation in sport and recreation with an emphasis on physical activity, through rational development of good quality, well-designed and well-utilised facilities.

Applicants must be either a local government or a not-for-profit sport, recreation or community organisation incorporated under the WA Associations Incorporation Act 1987opens in a new window and have an Australian Business Number (ABN). Clubs must demonstrate equitable access to the public on a short term and casual basis.
