Resident Perceptions Stay Positive

Date05 March 2024

The results from our recent 2023 Resident Perception Survey show that our community’s overall satisfaction with the City’s performance in the provision of facilities and services continues to rate highly at approximately 79%.

Graphic showing the strengths that were identified in the Resident Perception Survey.

Our Customer Service rating is stable with 66% of respondents reporting their recent interaction with the City was handled 'well' or 'very well'.

Our Net Promoter Score, which is the likelihood of recommending the City as a place to live, is +22, and is positive for all age groups and suburbs.

In terms of connecting with our community, emailed newsletters, social media and the printed City Chronicle were the preferred way to find out City news.

The five categories of services and facilities that rated most highly were:

  • libraries
  • rubbish collection and recycling services
  • sport and recreation centres
  • playing fields; and
  • parks, gardens, picnic areas and foreshores.

Key focus areas for the future are town planning approvals, youth facilities, dog and cat management, and youth programs.

The Resident Perception Survey was conducted by an independent research consultant, and was sent to 4,000 randomly selected households.

With over 830 completed responses received, the results of the survey are statistically valid and provide a reliable measure of our wider community’s perceptions of our services and facilities.

The Resident Perception Survey is one of the main tools the City uses to measure and improve performance.

You can read all the results from the survey on the Measuring Our Performance page.
