About the Role
The Presiding Member of the ARIC ensures the Committee operates effectively, objectively and in accordance with legislative requirements, Council's Standing Orders Local Law and the Committee's Terms of Reference.
The Deputy of the Presiding Member attends meetings of the ARIC and acts as the Presiding Member when required to do so.
Candidates cannot be a Council Member of a local government or an employee of the City of Rockingham.
Term of Appointment
The term of appointment for the Presiding Member and Deputy Presiding Member expires on 16 October 2027.
Essential Criteria
Candidates expressing an interest are to address the following criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in leadership, including Chairing meetings of Boards or Committees.
- Demonstrated experience in governance, audit, risk or financial management.
- Strong understanding of public sector accountability and governance frameworks.
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement, objectivity and integrity.
- Commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality and good governance principles.
- Knowledge of Western Australian local government legislative and reporting requirements.
- Professional qualifications in accounting, auditing, risk management, governance or a related discipline.
- a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and respectfully across all levels.
The City of Rockingham reserves the right to consider factors additional to the Essential Criteria, including possession of a skill set complementary to other members of the ARIC.
