Nominations Confirmed for Rockingham/Safety Bay Ward Extraordinary Election

Three candidates have nominated for the City of Rockingham's 2026 Extraordinary Election to fill a vacancy on Council representing the Rockingham/Safety Bay Ward.

Nominations closed at 4pm on Tuesday 11 August 2026. Following the close of nominations, the Western Australian Electoral Commission's Returning Officer conducted a draw to determine each candidate's position on the official ballot paper as follows:

  1. Jason Davies
  2. James Mumme
  3. Elaine Smith

How to vote

All electors on the Residents Roll and Owners and Occupiers Roll will receive a postal voting package through Australia Post, with mail-outs commencing from 25 August 2026.

Eligible electors who do not receive a voting package by Monday 7 September 2026 are encouraged to contact the City of Rockingham.

Voting closes at 6pm on Thursday 24 September 2026.

Completed voting packages should be returned promptly to ensure they are received before the close of voting.

There is no online voting.

Additional Information

The vote count will commence at 6pm on Thursday 24 September 2026 at the City of Rockingham Administration Building and will continue until 11pm. If required, counting will resume from 9am on Friday 25 September 2026.

The declaration of the result will occur once authorisation to proceed is received from the Western Australian Electoral Commission following the count.
