Project summary

A multi‑sport community hub providing training, competition and recreation opportunities in Baldivis.

Overview

Baldivis has experienced rapid growth in recent years, particularly among young families, leading to a high demand for sport and recreation facilities that support social connection, skill development and active, safer and more inclusive communities.

To help meet this need, the City purchased a 20‑hectare site on Eighty Road to develop the Baldivis Sports Complex (BSC). The project was delivered in stages, beginning with civil works in March 2020.

Stage one was completed in 2022 and provided the initial sporting infrastructure, including the main pavilion, changerooms and primary playing fields. The first major construction stage was finalised in 2023, delivering the indoor sports complex, multiple playing fields and a district‑level pavilion.

Stage two was completed in December 2025, adding the southern pavilion, eight hardcourts for netball and basketball, eight tennis courts and additional outdoor recreation spaces, including nature play, sensory play and water play areas and a new skatepark.

The Baldivis Sports Complex addresses a significant shortage of active reserve space in the area and provides modern sporting and recreational facilities for current and future community use.

The official opening was held on 17 December 2025.

Background

The Baldivis District Sporting Complex Master Plan provided the blueprint for the development of the site, outlining the location of playing fields, indoor and outdoor recreation areas and supporting infrastructure.

The draft master plan was advertised for public comment in October 2018, including a community information session held at the Mary Davies Library and Community Centre on 16 October 2018. This consultation period gave the community an opportunity to review the proposed layout and provide feedback. Following a review of submissions, the final Master Plan was endorsed by Council on 18 December 2018.

The final site layout includes multiple playing fields and courts, indoor and outdoor recreational spaces and more than 400 parking bays, including ACROD, bus and loading bays. Overflow parking is also available on site. A shared pathway around the perimeter of the complex was upgraded to support safe pedestrian and bicycle access.
