Castaways Sculpture Awards - Main Exhibition

This spring, experience the City of Rockingham’s iconic Castaways Sculpture Awards from 24 October to 1 November 2026.

Castaways, named after the discarded items found on local beaches, is an annual sculptural exhibition that transforms the Rockingham Foreshore into an outdoor gallery, featuring innovative artworks created from recycled and repurposed materials.

Proudly supported by Fremantle Ports with a $27,250 prize pool across three distinct exhibitions - including the Main Exhibition, the Maquette and Small Sculpture Exhibition, and the Schools Exhibition - Castaways showcases the creativity and talent of Western Australian artists.

There’s plenty to do at Castaways, with additional events and activities such as:

• Judges' Tour: A special guided tour on Opening Day led by the Castaways Judges and Curator, providing behind-the-scenes commentary.
• Tactile Tours: Free tours where people with disability, along with their loved ones, can touch and interact with selected artworks. 
• Artist Talks: Hear from select Main Exhibition artists about their creative processes for bringing their sculpture to life.
• Sustainability Pop-Up: An educational pop-up where you can enjoy interactive games and learn how to reduce plastics in your daily life. 
• Professional Development Session: Hear from speakers with decades of art experience and learn how to navigate the world of public art commissions.
