The City of Rockingham has recognised the outstanding commitment of its volunteers at the annual Years of Service Volunteer Sundowner, held at the Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club on Wednesday, 4 March.
Mayor Lorna Buchan said the event was an important opportunity to acknowledge the individuals whose generosity strengthens the community.
"The pride volunteers bring to our City is immense, and their contribution is valued and noticed. They are the heart of this community, and we are deeply grateful for their service."
Mayor Buchan said as she highlighted the vital role volunteers play in delivering the City's Strategic Community Plan 2023-2033, particularly its aspiration to foster a family-friendly, safe and connected community.
"Their commitment to volunteering brings this to life. Their efforts turn these big picture goals into everyday achievements, creating welcoming spaces, cared for places, and a strong sense of community spirit."
Volunteers recognised for five years of service included:
- Christine Jackson for her creative contributions and talented performances at the Autumn Centre.
- Pamela Gale for her dedication to the Autumn Centre.
- Jennifer Cronshaw for her committed service as a Library Housebound service volunteer.
- Patricia Allanson for her warm and welcoming service at the Autumn Centre.
- Christine Pacey for her calm and committed support in the Autumn Centre kitchen and café.
- Judy Oliver for sharing her creativity and generosity with the Autumn Centre.
- Stephanie Innes for her cheerful, hardworking support across the Autumn Centre.
- Joanne Kennedy for her dependable and high‑standard service in the Autumn Centre café.
- Jensen Nicoll and Rayne Mansfield for their dedicated involvement in the Rockingham Youth Reference Group.
Those marking 10 years of service were:
- Marie Hastie for her warm, energetic, and dedicated service to the Autumn Centre kitchen and café.
- Paul Edwards for his friendly, reliable service with the Rockingham Connect Community Transport team.
Toni Williamson, who is concluding 17 years of service supporting Neighbours Unite and Rockingham Connect was given special recognition also, along with Maureen Slade, honoured for 20 years of service, including her work with Rockingham Connect.
