The City of Rockingham welcomes the State Government’s announcement that it will be implementing measures to protect the little penguin population on Penguin Island which has continued to decline over recent years.
In March 2022 the City of Rockingham Council voted not to support a development application from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions to construct a new Penguin Information Centre on Penguin Island due to concerns about the impact of the proposed development on the health of the little penguin population.
