Despite news reports about an ‘unfolding situation’ related to a potential chemical leak at Aqua Jetty this afternoon, Thursday 26 May, the City confirms that it was a false alarm caused by an error in a sensor in the control room.
The faulty sensor triggered an alarm which led to an evacuation of the facility and a response from DFES. No leak of chlorine gas was detected and DFES left the site at approximately 4.30pm.
