Local businesses will gain access to new innovation, investment and export opportunities through a partnership between the City and the Blue Economy Innovation Platform for Western Australia (BEIP WA).

BEIP WA is a State-supported initiative that brings together businesses, researchers, investors and industry partners to support growth across Western Australia's blue economy, including industries linked to the ocean and coastline.

Through the partnership, local businesses will be able to access innovation and commercialisation support, research expertise, investor networks, export market connections and major industry events. These opportunities are designed to help businesses build new capabilities, explore new markets and strengthen industry connections.

The partnership is expected to be particularly relevant to businesses operating in, or supplying goods and services to, sectors such as defence, maritime industries, marine technology, advanced manufacturing, engineering, logistics, environmental services and tourism.

As part of the initiative, the City will also work with BEIP WA to better understand and develop Rockingham's existing blue economy capability and connect local businesses with opportunities across Western Australia and beyond.
