Contract herbicide spraying will be conducted across streetscapes within the City of Rockingham.
During May, contractors will carry out spraying on traffic islands and kerb-lines along primary distributor roads throughout the City.
Registered non-selective herbicides will be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s directions and applied via vehicle mounted boom and hand spraying. City contractors utilise a laser system within a shrouded boom that targets weeds and only applies herbicide when a weed is detected. This reduces the amount of herbicide used and eliminates the need for a blanket spray.
Appropriate signage will be displayed on the moving vehicle and in strategic locations while the work is being undertaken. The spraying operation will be monitored by City of Rockingham Officers in accordance with safety guidelines.
