Contract herbicide spraying will be carried out on streetscapes within the City of Rockingham, targeting summer weeds such as fleabane, cudweed and wireweed.
In May, contractors will undertake City-wide spraying of traffic islands and kerb-lines on primary distributor roads.
Registered non-selective herbicides will be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s directions and applied via vehicle mounted boom and hand spraying. City contractors utilise a laser system within a shrouded boom that targets weeds and only applies herbicide when a weed is detected. This reduces the amount of herbicide used and eliminates the need for a blanket spray.
Appropriate signage will be displayed on the moving vehicle and in strategic locations while the work is being undertaken. The spraying operation will be monitored by City of Rockingham Officers in accordance with safety guidelines.
