Repairs and Roadworks Planning and design

Project summary

The project involves removing excess sand from a section of the dune system, reshaping the dune profile, and installing sand-trapping fence raceways to better manage future sand movement.

To improve the stability of the Secret Harbour dune system and reduce ongoing sand movement onto the Surf Lifesaving Club beach access path, dune restoration works will commence 24 August 2026 and are expected to take approximately 14 days.

The relocated sand will be used to rehabilitate degraded areas of the surrounding dune system, improving dune stability and supporting long-term environmental outcomes.

Access Impacts

During construction, sections of the beach access path and adjacent beach area will be temporarily closed to ensure public safety. An alternative beach access route is available via the southern beach access path. Please refer to the project map for the work area, temporary closures, and alternative access route.
