Infrastructure Projects Planning and design

Project summary

We’re planning to develop a district-level Activity Node to provide recreation and sporting opportunities for the community within the Rockingham Foreshore reserve.

The Rockingham Foreshore Activity Node project has been identified for delivery in the City’s Community Infrastructure Plan.

The vision for the activity node is to provide infrastructure that caters to all ages and abilities, with a focus on recreation and sporting activities to meet the needs of the Rockingham community.

To help inform the recreation and sporting elements included in the activity node, community consultation will be undertaken during the design phase of the project.

The Rockingham Beach Foreshore Master Plan, completed in 2015, identified the need for a revitalised foreshore area, including a recreation activity node in Area Three (Wanliss Street to Governor Road), located on the eastern side of the Wanliss Street car park.

In 2016 Council approved the establishment of the Rockingham Foreshore Activity Node (RFAN) at this location. The development of this space will provide a comprehensive range of outdoor recreation, play and fitness opportunities.
