Project summary

We are installing a new pedestrian footpath along Bluefields Parkway from Madras Crescent to Achiever Avenue, Port Kennedy.

The City is installing a new pedestrian footpath along Bluefields Parkway from Madras Crescent to Achiever Avenue in Port Kennedy to improve connectivity, accessibility and community safety.

Project overview

The installation of this new footpath responds to increased pedestrian activity in the area and the absence of a continuous, safe walking route. The project will provide a dedicated shared-use surface that links key residential areas with schools, parks, and public transport, ensuring pedestrians no longer need to walk on verges or the roadway.

Key benefits of the footpath installation include:

  • Enhanced pedestrian safety by separating walkers, prams, and mobility devices from vehicle traffic.

  • Improved network connectivity with a continuous footpath linking local destinations.

  • Encouragement of active transport, promoting walking and cycling as sustainable travel choices.

This project forms part of the City’s commitment to building a safer, healthier, and more connected community.

Scope of works

The upgrade will include concrete works to install the footpath.

Project timeline

The project is expected to commence late January 2026 with completion anticipated by mid-February 2026.

Traffic and property access

  • Temporary traffic adjustments: One-way traffic flow may be in place at times.

  • Traffic management will be in place to assist road users during the construction period.

  • Residents will be granted access to their properties at all times.

Project updates

We are committed to keeping the community informed and any changes to the proposed schedule due to unforeseen circumstances will be updated.
