Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Rockingham Youth Centre will be closed for the remainder of this week and all scheduled programs are cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience.
We are upgrading the intersection of Norseman Approach and Edwin Link in Baldivis with a mini roundabout featuring a low, drive‑over centre island for larger vehicles such as buses, emergency vehicles and trucks.
This intersection has been identified through our road safety assessments as a location requiring improvement. The upgrade aims to reduce traffic incidents and improve access to the nearby commercial centre, which is in line with our Road Safety Management Plan.
Scope of works
- Removal of the existing raised platform
- Construction of mini roundabout minor kerbing, pavement and line marking adjustments
- Improved pedestrian crossing points
Traffic management
To facilitate these works safely, temporary traffic management measures will be in place during the evening from 7pm to 5am, including:
- Reduced speed limits through work zones
- Traffic diversions and detours
- Road closures
- Traffic controller assistance where required
Motorists should expect delays and allow additional travel time when travelling through the area. We appreciate the community's patience and cooperation while these important upgrades are completed.
Note: Detour and other traffic management information will be updated once the traffic management plan has been approved.
Project timeline
Works are scheduled to start in October 2026 and be completed in November 2026.
FAQs (Frequently asked questions)
A mini roundabout features a low, dome‑shaped centre island designed so larger vehicles such as buses, emergency can drive over it when needed, while everyday vehicles travel around it.

A mini roundabout operates the same way as a standard roundabout but is smaller and is typically installed where size constraints prevent a full‑size roundabout.
Its low, drive‑over centre island allows larger vehicles to pass over it safely, unlike standard roundabouts which have raised, non‑mountable central islands.
If access through Norseman Approach and Edwin Link is restricted during construction, alternative routes include:
- Settlers Avenue
- Atwick Terrace
- Goulburn Road
- Mennock Approach
There are also multiple internal car park access points via Safety Bay Road and Baldivis Road, ensuring access to shops and services remains available.
Construction is planned for weeknights during the 2026/2027 financial year. Completing the works at night will help the City minimise disruption for visitors to the nearby commercial centre.
