Traffic treatments are proposed along Malibu Road in Safety Bay to improve safety and traffic flow, and community feedback is now being sought.
To keep our roads safe and efficient as our City grows, we’re planning upgrades to Malibu Road in line with our Road Safety Action Plan. These improvements aim to achieve many outcomes, such as slowing vehicle speeds, reducing crash severity, and ensuring pedestrian safety by improving safe crossing facilities and connectivity.
Proposed works
The proposed upgrades include:
- Raised platform at Waikiki Road intersection
- Right-turn treatment at Bahama Place intersection
- Raised platform at Trade Winds Drive intersection
- Roundabout at Antigua Street intersection
Public consultation plans
Please refer to the public consultation plan (04725-PC1 C) to review the proposed works. The plan shows the locations of the proposed traffic treatments and how they integrate with the existing road layout and surrounding area. The designs follow road safety best practice and take into account existing road conditions, surrounding infrastructure and utility services.
We're seeking community feedback on the proposed traffic treatments and upgrades.
Pending the outcomes of the consultation, construction of these traffic treatments is expected to start in the next financial year (2027/2028).

Yes, there will be disruption to access to schools and the commercial centre during the construction. However, we will minimise any inconvenience by providing on-site traffic management. Should there be road closures, detour routes will be in place.
There will be off-road cycle path facilities for cyclists travelling both ways through the roundabout.
The City will assess the existing street lighting at each proposed treatment location and will upgrade it to meet Western Power standards, if required.
If your driveway and irrigation are impacted, the City will reinstate it at no cost to the property owner.
