Major annual events

Find out all you need to know about our upcoming major annual events and local community events - there's lots to see and do in Rockingham, where the coast comes to life.

Our major annual events include the Christmas Festival and our New Year’s Eve and Australia Day celebrations.

Christmas festivalChristmas Festival


  • Saturday 5 December 2020 from 5pm-9pm


  • Churchill Park, Rockingham Foreshore

The event will feature stage performances, roaming Christmas characters, food vans and more.

There will be a variety of entertainment including choirs singing Christmas classics, Boorloo Indigenous Dance Group, and new talent from our Breakthrough Music Competition. Children can enjoy free craft activities and bring a letter to post to the north pole. Of course Santa and his elves will pay a visit too!

Don’t miss the switching on of the Christmas lights at 8pm.

There will be limited additional parking available at the Village Green. Don’t forget you can always catch public transport, with bus route 555 operating every 15 minutes from 5pm-10pm, between Rockingham Train Station and the Rockingham Foreshore. Visit the Transperth website to plan your journey.

This event is part of the City’s Summer Series of free entry, family-friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free events.

New Year's Eve Celebration

The 2020 New Year's Eve Celebration will not go ahead due to the State Government’s October announcement regarding the deferral of Phase Five of the COVID-19 Roadmap.

Symphony on the Green

Romance on the Green took place on Saturday 22 February 2020 at the Village Green. The event featured Perth Symphony Orchestra with special guests conducted by Jessica Gethin, as well as solo performances from Jordan Anthony, Corinne Cowling, James Jurjevich, Mia Mattiessen, Rose Parker and Jun Zhang, and support performances from Paris Cusack and Rose Parker. 2021 event details coming soon.
