Project summary

We are replacing lighting along Safety Bay/Waikiki Foreshore. Project completion is expected to be at the end of February 2026.

We have started the replacement of the existing lighting along the Safety Bay/Waikiki Foreshore. The project involves removal of the existing aged infrastructure and the installation of new light poles, luminaires and cabling.

Area for project works

Work has started from Waimea Road Carpark and will continue through to Waikiki Beach Carpark, including the Francis Street Beach Carpark. You will see fenced-off construction areas at Bent Street, Donald Drive, and Waikiki Carpark as the crews get to work.

During the replacement works, access to parts of the foreshore carparks and grassed recreational areas will be restricted. Road and pathway access to the East and West of the construction areas will remain open for residents at all times.

Timeframe

The project is scheduled to commence late July 2025 with the anticipated completion end of February 2026.

What to expect

  • Some carparks and grassed areas will be temporarily closed off

  • Pathways and roads nearby will stay open

  • Some paint markings or survey posts along the Safety Bay/Waikiki Foreshore

  • Project completion is expect to be at the end of January 2026
