Enclosed Off-Leash Dog Exercise Area

Background

Planning for an enclosed off-leash dog exercise area commenced in 2014 following community consultation which strongly supported the concept. In 2015 a needs and feasibility study was completed and Bayview Reserve in Rockingham was selected from five sites as the most suitable.

A consultant was appointed to undertake the design, with the final concept being approved by Council in October 2015. Works commenced in August 2016 and were completed in November 2016 .

The $165,000 project was funded by the City of Rockingham and includes two separate spaces - one for small dogs and one for all dogs - various activity zones to minimise high-speed free running and encourage interaction, dog drinking fountains, seating, and a 1.8m high boundary fence with a 1.5m solid, internal dividing fence.

The Rockingham Enclosed Dog Park is the City’s first designated enclosed off-leash dog exercise area for the exclusive use of dog owners. Visit our dog parks and beaches page for more information on where you can exercise your dog.
