Background
In 2013, the City of Rockingham approved an application for Sky Dive Australia to land their beach sky diving along Rockingham Foreshore Beach. The Rockingham Foreshore location has operated without incidents, however wind conditions at this location can be unfavourable.
Proposal
Sky Dive Australia have requested Golden Bay Foreshore, adjacent to Shipwreck Cove, as the backup landing location if the wind conditions are unfavourable to land at Rockingham Foreshore.
Rockingham Foreshore will remain the primary landing location for Sky Dive Australia.
If there is a need to land at the Golden Bay Foreshore, a 10 m x 10 m landing zone will be cleared on the beach for approximately 10 minutes per flight. The landing zone will be manned by Sky Dive Australia staff, and identified through the use of cones and signs. There could be some temporary disruption to beach users during the landings, however the zone will be reopened to the public when the area is clear of sky divers.
A map of the proposed location can be found in the related documents section below.
