Draft Traders Policy

Traders Policy

Our Leisure and Tourism Traders Policy (Traders Policy) has been in place since 2010 and guides how businesses must trade on public land in the City of Rockingham.

The policy has been reviewed, and while there are no proposed changes to non-food trading, it is proposed to increase opportunities for mobile food trading.

The focus on mobile food trading includes a framework that would allow them to regularly trade at nine standalone locations throughout the community. These locations were considered based on their proximity to established food businesses, availability of parking, toilets and lighting, pedestrian access and safety, as well potential impact and risk. It is proposed to issue one fixed trading permit per location, and only the permitted food vendor can trade at that location.

Other mobile food trading permits, such as attendance at events, markets and for ice cream vehicles, remain unchanged.

The additional fixed food vehicle trading permit will allow activation of areas otherwise poorly serviced by food retail options.

Fixed Food Vehicles Trading Permits Locations:

  • Secret Harbour Foreshore;
  • Governor Road Reserve
  • Shoalwater Reserve - Activity Node
  • Long Point (Port Kennedy Boat Ramp) Port Kennedy
  • Singleton Foreshore
  • Waikiki Foreshore - Francis Street
  • Safety Bay Foreshore - Malibu Road
  • Fantasy Park, Waikiki
  • City Park, Rockingham
