The City of Rockingham COVID-19 Local Recovery Coordination Group (LRCG) is continuing to support the implementation of the State Government's COVID-19 WA Recovery Plan.

In light of the recent challenges, Rockingham tourism businesses have been offered the opportunity to join Destination Perth (the Regional Tourism Organisation for Perth) free of charge until 30 March 2021. Head to the Destination Perth membership page for further information.

The State Government, through Tourism WA, committed $14.4 million to the WA Tourism Recovery Program; a package to support the tourism industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. This support package had two funding programs; the $10.4 million Tourism Recovery Fund and the $4 million Tourism Business Survival Grant. On October 5 2020 the State Government announced the outstanding funding from the Tourism Recovery Fund would be used for the Tourism Business Survival Grant program which attracted hundreds of applications. Successful applicants have been notified.

Rediscover Rockingham destination marketing campaign
The City of Rockingham is following up a successful Rediscover Adventure campaign in Spring 2019 with a new marketing campaign focused on reminding Western Australians that the Rockingham region offers the quintessential summer holiday experience.
The promotion kicked off on Sunday 6 December 2020 with a feature on the Destination WA TV series on Channel 9. The campaign includes digital billboards on both the Mitchell and Kwinana Freeways and on the side of the Channel 9 building in the Perth CBD.
In addition, the backs of 10 buses travelling through targeted routes in the metropolitan area also feature the iconic Rockingham branding reminding passengers and motorists of ‘where the coast comes to life’.
