Date09 February 2026 The City of Rockingham is inviting the community to celebrate the completion of the Mary Davies Street Makeover, a youth‑led placemaking project designed and delivered in collaboration with RAC Ignite.
Located beside the Mary Davies Library and Community Centre, the refreshed walkway now features vibrant public murals, youth‑designed elements, improved seating, chill‑out spaces and bee‑themed artworks inspired by local identity - including the beekeeping passion of Mary Davies - and the voices of young people.
To mark the project’s completion, the City is hosting a free Pop‑Up Party on Saturday 14 February 2026 from 4.30pm to 7.30pm at the Mary Davies Library and Community Centre walkway.
The family-friendly event will offer free bike safety checks, a chill‑out zone, live music, native bees information sessions, free popcorn, and a range of activities for children and young people.
Community members can also meet staff from the Rockingham Youth Centre to learn more about the City’s youth programs, community safety initiatives, and hear from the Town Team Movement about ways to get involved in the local community.
Mayor Lorna Buchan said the makeover showcases the imagination and leadership of Rockingham’s young people.
It’s been fantastic to see our young people bring this space to life. Their ideas have made the Mary Davies walkway brighter, safer and more inviting for everyone, and we can’t wait to celebrate their achievement with the community.
The project forms part of the City’s ongoing commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive and well‑designed public spaces that support community connection and youth engagement.
