Art Prize 2026 Welcomes WA’s Creative Talent

Date14 November 2025

One of WA’s most anticipated visual arts competitions is back, with entries now open for the City of Rockingham Art Prize 2026.

Artists from across the state are invited to submit their best work for a chance to share in a $20,000 prize pool, including a $10,000 non-acquisitive First Prize.

The Rockingham Art Prize continues to grow in prestige, offering a professionally curated exhibition at the Rockingham Arts Centre and a platform for artists to gain recognition, sell their work, and connect with new audiences.

Among the standout categories is the Small Sculpture Award, offering $4,000 for original three-dimensional works in any medium. The Emerging Artist Award and First Nations Artist Award each offer $2,000, recognising outstanding new and diverse voices in the arts. The Local Resident Award also returns, celebrating creativity within the Rockingham community.

“Art has the power to bring people together, spark conversation and celebrate our shared stories,” said City of Rockingham Mayor Lorna Buchan.

I encourage creatives across WA to take part and help us showcase the incredible talent in our State.

Art Prize Curator Sandra Murray also encouraged emerging and established artists to embrace the opportunity.

“Our focus remains on providing a meaningful platform that presents artists’ work in a professionally curated exhibition at the Rockingham Arts Centre,” Ms Murray said.

Entry is free, and artists across WA are invited to submit works in any media (excluding installation and video). Finalists will be selected by a professional panel.

Entries close at 4pm on Thursday, 29 January 2026, with the exhibition running from 13 June to 5 July 2026 at the Rockingham Arts Centre.
