City of Rockingham Cancels Events
Date16 March 2020
Due to the evolving status of the COVID-19 virus, and based on current information provided by the Australian Government Department of Health, the City of Rockingham has taken steps to reduce the potential spread of the virus by cancelling several of its forthcoming events.
These events include:
- The International Food Festival, which was to be held on Friday 20 March at the Village Green.
- Community Breakfast Ride, which was to be held on Sunday 22 March in Port Kennedy.
- Performance in the Park, which was to be held on Saturday 28 March at the Village Green.
Mayor Sammels said public safety was far and away the highest priority, but the City was very disappointed that these events had to be cancelled.
“The advice we have from the WA Health Department is very clear, so the tough decision had to be made. It’s unfortunate, because the City works very hard throughout the year to develop and present a program of engaging community activities and we are disappointed that we aren’t able to proceed with the next few events on our calendar
“We are liaising very closely with WA Department of Health, and as soon as it is safe to resume our events calendar, we will be back with more interesting and engaging activities for our community.”
There are no plans to reschedule the affected events at this stage.
