The theme this year is Men and Families: Keeping Boys and Men Healthy.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said a total of seven different activities would be held throughout the City during Men’s Health Week, with men and boys of all ages encouraged to participate.
“With research revealing that men are more likely to have accidents, take their own lives and suffer from lifestyle-related health conditions than females of the same age, it’s vitally important that we draw attention to improving the health of men across the community,” Mayor Sammels said.
“Only 30 per cent of a man’s overall health is determined by genetics, with 70 per cent controllable through lifestyle. By making small, positive lifestyle changes, it’s possible to make a lasting impact.
The best people to improve men’s health are those who live, work and play alongside men and boys in our community, so I encourage all residents to get involved in the wide range of fun activities the City is hosting to help boost men’s health and wellbeing.”
