Proposal
As an outcome of the City’s Heritage Strategy 2020-2025, Council has considered financial incentives as a means of encouraging the conservation of privately-owned heritage places in the City.
At its Ordinary Meeting on 22 August 2023, Council resolved to advertise the proposed amendments to the City of Rockingham's Community Grants Program (CGP) Policy to include the provision for new Heritage Assistance Grants to owners of heritage-listed properties.
The following Heritage Assistance Grant Categories are proposed:

- Category 1 places are also referred to as Management Category A in the City’s Municipal Heritage Inventory (Heritage Survey).
- Category 2 places are also referred to as Management Category B in the City’s Municipal Heritage Inventory (Heritage Survey).
- Category 3 places are also referred to as Management Category C in the City’s Municipal Heritage Inventory (Heritage Survey).
Eligible heritage projects for these grants may include up to 50% of the total cost of conservation works, up to the maximum total amounts listed above, and up to 50% of funding towards heritage documentation. The City has prepared a set of guidelines to assist in the administration of Heritage Assistance Grants within the framework of the CGP.
While funding opportunities are proposed to apply to most Local Heritage Places on the City’s Heritage List, some Local Heritage Places which are of little significance (Management Category D) to the understanding of the district will not be eligible.
