Proposal
In December 2023, the City granted development approval for proposed additions to the existing animal establishment (Camelot Pet Resort) at Lot 15 (No.1881) Mandurah Road, Karnup. This approval is due to expire in December 2025. The applicant is now seeking to extend the development approval for a further two years to allow sufficient time to proceed with the proposed additions.
Details of the proposed development are outlined below, consistent with the existing approval:
- The applicant proposed to construct an additional 76 dog kennels, increasing the total number of kennels on the property to 117
- the new kennels will be contained within two new buildings comprising an area of 286 m2 and 516 m2 respectively
- a maximum of 155 dogs on site at any one time is proposed. The capacity of the existing cattery will remain unchanged
- the business is family run, with four staff members
- animals may only be dropped off and collected during the following times
- check-in: 8:00am to 11:30am, Monday to Saturday
- check-out: 8 - 12pm or 3:30pm - 5pm, Monday to Saturday
- check-out only 3:30pm - 5pm on Sundays
- dogs will have access to exercise yards enclosed by a 1.8 m high weldmesh fence
- access to and from Mandurah Road will remain as existing, with left-in / left-out movements only
- eight client car parking bays and a turnaround area are proposed.
