We will be removing and replacing reserve shelters in various locations across the City.
Our Asset Renewal Program aims to continuously improve public open space across the City and will involve the following reserves:
The Esplanade (between the two Palm Beach Boat ramps), Palm Beach
Naval Reserve, Rockingham
Phoebe Hymus Reserve, Rockingham
Churchill and Bell Parks, Rockingham (Note: The two shelters to the west of Churchill Park will be removed and new shelters will be installed in the future)
Works will include the removal of existing reserve shelters, including the furniture, and the installation of new aluminium skillion shelters with accessible new picnic settings.
Preparation works such as the demolition of existing shelters will take place; in most instances the new shelters will be replaced in the same location as the existing shelters, therefore demolition is required to allow new footings and pads to be installed. We're taking this approach to minimise the impact on reserve users.
Additional works in selected areas will also take place, which will include the relocation of rubbish bins and drink fountains and the installation of minor access paths to selected shelters.
The additional works will provide improved access to the facilities for all users.
The reserves will be impacted from time to time. We ask that you follow these safety guidelines while the work is being done:
Do not enter the area of works.
Do not approach plant operators for conversation. There are many hazards which place the worker, yourself and others at risk or serious injury.
Do not stop the workers from performing their duties as this could result in unnecessary delays and place you at risk.
Be aware of you own surroundings and keep dogs on leads at all times.
