Mersey Point Beach Renourishment Project

  • Repairs and roadworks
  • Temporary works

Project summary

We will be conducting sand renourishment works at Mersey Point beach to lessen the erosion caused by winter storms.

Works are scheduled to begin in mid-October 2024 and will take approximately four weeks to complete, subject to weather conditions and contractor availability.

Beach closure

The beach access service road next to Pengo’s Café and the southern sections of the Mersey Point beaches will be closed to enable the beach excavation and associated activities, and to maintain safety. The closures will allow for the machinery to transport and place beach sand to renourish the eroded foreshore between Mersey Point Jetty and the seawall at the southern end of the beach on Arcadia Drive.

Please be aware that there will be an increase in truck movements between Mersey Point and Point Peron. Please follow all signs regarding the beach closures and follow directions from the traffic and pedestrian management team. Do not access the area of beach that has been closed off to the public.
