Project summary

The existing skate park at Alf Powell Reserve will be demolished and replaced.

A 2015 audit of our skate parks recognised that the Cooloongup Skate Park needed replacement, so the existing skate park will be demolished and a new one built in the same location.

The new design will provide more space, and be able to be used by skate, scooter and BMX riders of all skill levels.

We developed a concept design in early 2019, and asked for feedback from the community including:

  • local residents
  • young people through the nearby primary school, and
  • our Skate Reference Group

The concept design has now been reviewed and finalised, and the design detail is being prepared.

The final concept design features:

  • an enclosed transition area with pump bumps, taco and ramp extensions
  • a street line with ramps, rail, kerbs and ledges, and
  • separate mini ramp.

A drink fountain, bins and a shade shelter with seating will also be included.
