Project summary

The redevelopment of the City Square and Civic Plaza will improve the appearance, functionality and pedestrian safety of the two areas.

The City Square and Civic Plaza is defined as the area located between the law courts, Centrelink, Rockingham Medical Centre and the City of Rockingham Administration Building.

Over time, these spaces have required increasing levels of maintenance and no longer provide the level of usability and activation they once did. The design intent is to address the long term maintenance requirements associated with the deteriorating paving, improve the universal access and update the furniture and lighting.

The works will include redefining the City's Administration surrounds by providing a consistent paving grade, a variety of new seating options, new flowering trees, raised garden beds, and an upgrade to the existing water feature.

The works will complement the surrounding area and create a vibrant impression that will increase activation of the spaces for residents, visitors, nearby businesses and government agencies operating in the area.
