  • Major infrastructure projects
  • Planning and design

Project summary

The Aqua Jetty will be expanded and improved to cater for population growth.

The Aqua Jetty facility will be refurbished and expanded to cater for the City’s population growth providing a modernised and contemporary facility. The facility will include accessibility improvements throughout which includes improvements to the water spaces within the facility to accommodate additional space for swimming programs (hydrotherapy pool, learn to swim pool and water play). Additionally the facility will include new, relocated and enhanced dry side spaces (gymnasium, group fitness rooms, crèche, café, etc.) and refurbished and new changing spaces to service all areas within the facility.

Background

The need for a future expansion of the Aqua Jetty facility to service our forecast population was first identified through the completion of a 2010 needs and feasibility study.

In February 2018 the City completed an updated Aqua Jetty Needs Assessment and Feasibility Study that investigated the capacity of the current facilities at the Aqua Jetty to meet the current and forecast community need. The study considered community and membership consultation and concluded that improvements and upgrades were required to both the aquatic and dry infrastructure to best cater for increased demand and ensure the Aqua Jetty continued to deliver as the City's flagship aquatic and leisure facility.

The Aqua Jetty currently includes a heated 50m outdoor pool, heated 25m indoor pool, leisure pool, hydrotherapy pool, sauna, fully-equipped health club, one multipurpose indoor court, outdoor courts, crèche and café.
