To encourage tree planting and to aid in the landscaping of your newly built dwelling, the City has arranged for 2 trees or shrubs to be made available for each property. Please note these trees are not available from October to February.
To enable the collection of these plants, a voucher can be issued to you at:
Engineering and Parks Services Department
Administration Building (Council Chambers)
Civic Boulevard Rockingham
You are required to present the voucher to the City's Nursery (Morgan Street, Rockingham) on Thursdays from 8:00am - 12:00 Noon and 1:00pm to 2:30pm. This will allow you to receive two plants from a wide variety of stocks from the nursery, including trees and shrubs.
The City also offers street trees to residents for the verge adjacent to your property. Council staff will also plant the requested trees during the winter months. Download Street Tree Planting PDF File and Tree Planting Guide PDF.
If a tree has grown into a location that you consider dangerous it may be eligible to be removed or pruned by Council in accordance with Council's Policy for Tree Removal.
You can now send in your details electronically to report a dangerous tree or shrub on Council property that may be eligible for removal or pruning.
In June 2002 Council adopted a Verge Development Policy that relates to the area of land between a road edge and the adjacent property boundary. The Policy was developed to ensure that street verges within the City of Rockingham are developed to an appropriate and consistent standard with due regard to aesthetics and public safety.
For more information on what you can and can't do with your verge Download the Verge Development PDF file.
The portion of the driveway between the front boundary of your property and the road carriageway is known as the crossover. If the crossover is constructed to the City's specifications, the property owner is entitled to a subsidy (one per property). The location relative to boundaries and street corners is important so prior to a crossover being constructed, you should contact City's Engineering & Parks Services Department to ensure you stay within the prescribed regulations. You should also ensure you have read the Verge Development PDF file above.
Within urban areas, brick paving and concrete can be used and the subsidy is equivalent to half the cost of a Council constructed concrete standard width crossover.
For more detailed information download the Crossover Specification Sheets above.
For all reportings of bee nests on Council property please call the Council Depot.
