Environment reporting and action plan

State of Environment Reporting and Environmental Action Plans

The City is committed to ongoing State of Environment (SoE) Reporting and Environmental Action Plans (EAP).  This internationally recognised SoE process establishes priority environmental issues within Rockingham, gives a measure of the state of the environment (as it affects each issue) and the pressure that the issue is under.  The EAP subsequently provides an Action Plan for the City to address these issues in an effort to reduce the pressures being experienced.

SoE reporting is an important tool for assessing the City's progress towards addressing environmental issues and for establishing environmental priorities in the future.  The Council conducts a full review every four years and releases a Report Card in the interim period.

The issues covered in the SoE Report are:

  • Inland Waters
  • Energy
  • Bushland
  • Noise
  • Coastal Waters
  • Coastal Foreshore
  • Atmosphere
  • Land Management
  • Waste
  • Heritage

The City has completed a full review of the State of Environment Report and Environmental Action Plan 2008/2009; this document has been endorsed and released to the general public.  Copies are available in the City's Administration Building, via the link below, or in all public libraries in Rockingham.
