Celebrating our Sister City 20th Anniversary

Page index

Background

April 2017 will mark the 20th anniversary of the sister city relationship between the City of Rockingham and the City of Ako in Japan.

The sister city relationship is a formal, long-term relationship based on diverse links between the two cities – including cultural, educational, tourism, sporting and business links. Over the past 20 years, students, teachers, choir members, Councillors and community members from Ako and Rockingham have been visiting each other and sharing in a cultural exchange.

Share your stories and photos

The Global Friendship Committee will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the City’s sister city relationship with Ako by commissioning an e-book. This e-book will be a collection of photos and short stories showcasing Rockingham at its best to our friends in Ako. The City would also like to include any experiences you have had with our sister city, so please send us your stories and photos.

What we need from you:

  • photos (each email sent can only be a maximum of 10MB)
  • description of the photo and your name.

All the photos and stories will be collected and created into an e-book available for viewing on the City’s website.

Please email your contributions to customer@rockingham.wa.gov.au.  Closing date for receipt of entries is 4.30pm on Friday 31 March 2017.

For further information contact the Governance and Councillor Support team on 9528 0333.

Please note: The City reserves the right to edit, amend or omit material sent to the City for the e-book.
