Baldivis Enclosed Dog Park

Background

The City's Enclosed Off-Leash Dog Exercise Area Needs and Feasibility Study (2015) identified that four enclosed off-leash dog exercise areas would be required within the City by 2020. Baldivis has been identified as the next location due to the large registered dog population in the suburb.

Scope of works

The draft concept design for the enclosed dog park was advertised for public comment during June 2017. The draft concept design can be seen below and includes the following elements:

  • fencing surrounding two separate enclosures; a small dog enclosure and an all dog enclosure
  • sand areas
  • shade shelters
  • seating
  • drinking water access for people and dogs
  • agility equipment in each enclosure.

The outcomes of consultation will be used to review the design, and the final concept will be presented to Council for approval.

Location

Barri Barri Park (Corner Baldivis Road and Makybe Drive) was endorsed by council in December 2016 as the location.

Project schedule

Planning and design is currently in progress, and construction is expected to begin early 2018. It is anticipated that the enclosed dog park could be completed in mid 2018.
