Start the Day with a Walk to School

23/05/2016

Friday 20 May 2016 was National Walk Safely to School Day. Children throughout Australia were asked to walk to school with their parents or carers, while learning to be safe, active and healthy.

The City of Rockingham encouraged primary schools within the City to participate in this event by offering funding assistance to host a healthy breakfast as part of the event.

“National Walk Safely to School Day aims to promote better health and cleaner air. This event teaches children about the importance of keeping physically active, having a healthy diet, staying safe and caring for the environment,” said City of Rockingham Mayor, Barry Sammels.

Nineteen local primary schools receive a donation for a healthy breakfast from the City:

  1. Baldivis Primary School
  2. Bungaree Primary School
  3. Charthouse Primary School
  4. Cooloongup Primary School
  5. Comet Bay Primary School
