Seniors account for approximately 16% of the City of Rockingham’s population, so the City is keenly aware of the need to make information about ageing available to them, and their carers.
In partnership with Care Options, Community First and Volunteer Task Force, the City is hosting the eighth Seniors and Carers Expo on Friday 6 October 2017 from 10am-2pm at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex in Rockingham. Over 140 stalls will be available under one roof to provide information to visitors on the affordable and innovative community services, programs, activities and supports available to help them live a safe, fulfilling and enjoyable life. This year we are also very fortunate to have Curtin FM broadcasting live from the venue.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said “Seniors are a large and integral part of our community, and the contributions they make are highly valued. The International Day of Older Persons is a great opportunity for the wider community to reflect on these contributions and to celebrate older people.”
“The Seniors and Carers Expo has grown each year to become one of the largest events of its kind in Western Australia. We are very grateful to our sponsors: Ace Cinemas, Act-Belong-Commit, A-Z Photography, Bunnings, Curtin FM, and Specsavers for their support with this popular and important event.”
