Pioneering Environmental Research Project

29/06/2016

Works have started on a Threatened Ecological Community (TEC) re-establishment trial, which is being undertaken by the state government (Landcorp) in the area of bushland between Lewington Street and Merchant Drive, Rockingham.

A TEC is a group of flora and fauna that occur together in a particular habitat, which are considered under threat of destruction.

The trial, which is the first of its kind in Australia, will involve the creation of six basins with different depths to groundwater, which will be planted with species characteristic of the TEC.

More details, including a map of the TEC trial area are available in the TEC Trial Information Sheet

For further information please contact the City of Rockingham on 9528 0333.
