New Support for Businesses a Plus

The City of Rockingham has launched a new business development program to assist local small businesses grow and prosper.

The City of Rockingham has launched a new business development program to assist local small businesses grow and prosper.
 
Presented by Business Foundations, the City of Rockingham Business Plus program will provide localised training specifically for the City’s small business community.
 
It will involve eight free workshops held over the next 12 months with topics covering:

  • Customer Service and Merchandising
  • Social Media 101
  • HR for Small Business
  • How to Master the Art of Tendering
  • Understanding Your Financials
  • How to Sell Online
  • Customer Service and Merchandising
  • Mastering Mobile Business.

Each workshop will be followed up with free one-on-one mentoring sessions.
 
The first of the workshops, Customer Servicing and Merchandising, will be held on Wednesday 28 September from 9.30am - 12pm at the Gary Holland Community Centre.
 
The launch of Business Plus forms part of the City’s Economic Development Strategy 2014-2017 which aims to build the capacity of small business in the City through partnerships with local business development groups. Business Foundation is a Rockingham-based non-profit organisation that has been providing support to small business owners throughout the region for 20 years. 
 
Mayor Barry Sammels said the City was pleased to be working with Business Foundations to provide training that was designed to give businesses and their owners the know-how to unlock the true potential of their businesses.
 
“City of Rockingham Business Plus provides us with a way to facilitate important and contemporary small business support,” Mayor Sammels said. “Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy and are quite often family-run. This is an excellent opportunity for them to learn the skills and techniques necessary to make their business thrive.”
