The City of Rockingham in partnership with the Red Cross are looking for volunteers to make our community safer, increase resilience and enable the community to be better prepared for emergency situations. The project has been funded by the National Disaster Resilience Program (NDRP), an initiative of the Office of Emergency Management.
With the help of volunteers, the Red Cross will be running sessions in Golden Bay to educate community members about how to respond to emergency situations.
This whole of Community Emergency Preparedness program will aim to deliver The Pillowcase Project at schools for years 3 and 4. The project focuses on educating students in putting together their own personal emergency 'pillowcase' kits for home.
Rediplan sessions, which outline how to get prepared for bushfires, storms, floods and other everyday emergencies, will also be presented to various community groups.
Are you interested in volunteering with the Red Cross and The City in delivering these important programs whilst making a difference within the community?
This is a great opportunity to volunteer with the Red Cross, an internationally recognised organisation.
Pillowcase Project training sessions for prospective volunteers will be held on
20 September or 18 October 2017 in Golden Bay from 9am - 3pm.
Training sessions for volunteers interested in presenting RediPlan sessions will be held on September 17 or 15 October 2017 in Golden Bay from 9am - 3pm.
